Saif Ali Khan News Live Updates: The accused in the Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan attack case, identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam, was arrested after days of manhunt by the Mumbai Police and Crime Branch in Thane.

After the arrest, Shariful was sent to 5-day police custody by a Mumbai court.

According to the Mumbai police, the accused is a Bangladeshi national. He had entered the country illegally and changed his name to Bijoy Das.

It was further found that the accused was working as housekeeping staff at Ricky’s bar in Thane. The Mumbai Police will now be taking the accused to the residence of the actor to recreate the crime scene.

In the early morning hours of January 16, the actor was stabbed six times in his neck and shoulder by the accused who had entered his Bandra West apartment with the intention of theft.

Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital where he underwent a five-hour-long surgery to remove a 2.5-inch piece of knife from his spine. It is expected that the actor will be discharged tomorrow and the Mumbai Police is likely to record his statement today.
